Cognitive Radio

DSV fellow employees started CR related research activities at the Institute of Communications Technology (IKT) at Leibniz University of Hannover in 2008. Various studies have been conducted, published and presented at conferences, e.g. spectrum sensing in opportunistic spectrum access or via a cyclostationary multitone beacon signal, modeling of cognitive radio systems like adaptive and cognitive access schemes, frequency re-using and hopping for Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) femto cells and fractional frequency re-using in macro cell scenarios, new modulation schemes addressing the impact of OFDM sidelobes. CR approaches have not been restricted to cellular communication systems, but for UWB communications and for EB systems as well.

DSV, in collaboration with industry partners and research institutes, is developing now a cognitive LTE testbed, based on commercial SDR platforms and as compliant as possible to the LTE standard. read more »
