DSV is an Institute within the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Duisburg-Essen. Our research interests can be classified in four major topics being illustrated here:
Our teaching activities range from fundamental signal processing, transmission, and modulation techniques towards wireless communication and localization. Further emphasis is given to teaching lab's for software programming and hardware development on state-of-the-art processor platforms.

Our motto is Think complete. It stands for the ambition to span our research from algorithms to prototypes with the ultimate goal to invent technical feasible solutions for challenging real-world scenarios.

DSV News

  • DSV authored two chapters in the new Wiley-IEEE Press book "Signal Processing for 5G: Algorithms and Implementations" (contributors: Thomas Kaiser, Nidal Zarifeh , and Wei Jiang). The two chapters focus on Full Duplex and FBMC. More about the book can be found here.

  • UDE-Researchers collaborate within TERA50 project to smash world record in data rate by hitting 60 Gbit/s developing world fastest THz Wireless System! More details are here (in German).

  • A new book "Digital Signal Processing for RFID" (authors: Feng Zheng and Thomas Kaiser) has been recently published by John Wiley. This book discusses the fundamentals of RFID and the state-of-the-art research results in signal processing for RFID, including MIMO, blind source separation, anti-collision, localization, covert RFID and chipless RFID. Aimed at graduate students as well as academic and professional researchers/engineers in RFID technology, it enables readers to become conversant with the latest theory and applications of signal processing for RFID.   • DSV becomes a participant in COHERENT, a partial project within 5G PPP (5G Infrastructure Public Private Partnership). 5G PPP is a large-scale partnership which will deliver solutions, architectures, technologies and standards for the ubiquitous next generation communication infrastructures of the coming decade.
